Bryan York’s Power Chair Attachment - Nov 2, 2026

Earlier this spring (2024), Bryan received a power wheelchair. It was amazing to see just how much independence and how many life experiences he had missed out on because it was either too inconvenient or too difficult to get around in his transport chair, which required someone to push him. Since getting his power wheelchair, Bryan has been able to enjoy activities such as going bowling, visiting the store, and spending time at the park with his nieces (his favourite!).

After using his new chair for a while, Bryan began thinking about how wonderful it would be to find a way to use his camera while moving around independently in his wheelchair.

He did some research and discovered two companies that manufactured wheelchair camera attachments. One was based in the United States and the other in the Philippines. Bryan contacted both companies and began discussing his idea with them. They were intrigued and eager to take on the challenge. However, the designs they proposed seemed overly complicated and expensive.

One day, while visiting with his friend Kevin, Bryan shared what he had been working on. Kevin was fascinated by the idea and asked Bryan to send him copies of the email conversations he had been having with the two companies. After looking them over, Kevin quickly said that he was pretty sure he could come up with something much simpler for Bryan and promised to get back to him.

After several months of experimenting and tinkering with different ideas, Kevin was excited to show Bryan the camera attachment he had created!

Bryan put it to the test this morning with his good friend Ashley, and it turned out to be incredibly easy to use! Even better, it securely held his camera in place, giving him the freedom to take pictures while on the move.

Bryan was extremely grateful to Kevin for his creativity and generosity. He thanked him for not only creating this ingenious attachment but also for giving him another opportunity to enjoy his passion for photography with greater independence.
